A rather stingy man died and went to heaven. He was met at the front gate by St. Peter, who led him on a house tour down the golden streets. They passed mansion after beautiful mansion until they came to the end of the street and stopped in front of a tiny shack without gold paving in front.

"And here is where you will be living, sir," Peter announced.

"Me live here?" the stingy man yelled. "How come?"

Peter replied, "I did the best I could with the money you sent us."

A Single Mom's Grocery Money

       Nancy was a single mother with young children. Her ex-husband sent her only a small amount of grocery money every week—so small it couldn’t even feed 1 person, much less her family of 4. But Nancy decided to begin giving to God from her little bit of grocery money and trust Him to provide. Shortly after, she got a job with a cookbook company. The company paid Nancy to go grocery shopping and prepare meals so they could take photographs for their cookbooks. When they were done taking pictures, Nancy could keep the food she had purchased and prepared. Isn’t that an amazing story of God’s goodness? Nancy learned that even if you’re poor, you still need to learn to give from whatever you have.

Fairness, Not Necessarily Paying the Least We Can, is Another Key to Prosperity
       Let us live the golden rule.
       Pay what is fair for any goods or services, although we can surely accept or be glad when things are on sale and we can save money by these sales. Sometimes we may get good deals at yard sales, moving sales, garage sales, thrift stores, etc.

Honor and Integrity -- Keys to Abundance
       Thou shalt not steal.
       We should pay our debts.
       The end does not justify the means.
       Money acquired through honest endeavors will bring us joyful abundance.


Kindness Pays
       For our acts of kindness, we may be given gifts of money, food, etc. I was kind and helpful to some men who came to work near here. One of them, a few days later, showed me his kindness by giving me a bottle of healthy elderberry juice. I was pleasantly surprised and truly grateful.

       A friend of mine was leaving town and I gave her a free yoga class. After which, I gave her an unexpected meal. Then to my surprise she offered to some of the remaining food she had, which she later brought, and for which I am grateful.

Keys or Important Teachings to Abundance
from the Book, The 'I AM' Discourses -- Volume 3

Having Clearly Defined Goals or Desires, and Writing them Down, are Two Major Keys to Abundance
       Clearly define our goals or desires. Know what we want, and do our best to make sure it is God's will for us.
       Write down what we want and keep it on our altar, or in our scriptures, or in a safe place where others generally will not see it.

Regarding Going Into Business with a Partner:

1. The first thing to ask is if this is God's will and part of our divine plan. We may pray and ask God, for God's will and for the divine direction and protection of all involved.

2. Secondly, what is the partner's motives? Is he or she in it for the money, or is in it to help people and to make money in doing so? What is his character? Is he an honest upright man? Will he do right with you, his employees and customers?

3. How reasonable or practical is this business? Will it be a practical, realistic success? Is there a good business plan that he can show you, or that you two can make up together? Without a good business plan, it may be best to not get involved, and to do something else.

The other side is can you do this ourself, starting very small...

4. Also, if you go into business as a partner, will you and your partner have a reasonable, balanced legal (very important) contract or agreement giving all aspects and details and responsibilities of each of you; and explaining what would be your share or how much each of you would receive?
Note: Without a good legal contract, it may be better not to get involved.

So, a good business plan and a good legal contract or agreement is generally a wise way to go.


Another note: I do NOT give advice to people, but I simply share my thoughts, hopefully wise thoughts, and then any person who may read my thoughts, can use them or not, as they feel led.

Actually, there is a teaching that says to NOT give advice to others, but to encourage them to turn to their God Presence, and ask for God's will to be done.

Aiken's job-shopping odyssey began in February 2007, after he graduated as a class valedictorian with an undergrad degree, but no idea what to do for a living. Aiken's solution?
