The Golden Rule, or the Golden
Rule of Love, may be considered the simplest creed for living. It
compliments the second commandment – to love thy neighbor as thyself. The Golden
Rule is “golden words” to live by. Moreover, it is The Golden Rule of
Love and Wisdom.
It is one of the best and simplest guidelines
that we can live by.
Moreover, if we teach our children to live by
the Golden Rule, we will have left an estate of incalculable value.
The Golden Rule is the simplest wisdom
to help bring in the Golden Age of Aquarius or the Golden Age of Love.
All the major world’s religions have some type
of Golden Rule of Love, and these Golden Rules of Love are given
in the following list.
The Golden Rule as Taught
by the Seven Major World’s Religions
Christianity: Therefore all things whatsoever ye desire that men should do to you, do
ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
Or: In everything, do unto others as you would
have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets. (Jesus, Book of Matthew
7:12. See also Luke 6:31, Gal. 5:14,
Tim. 1:5)
Questions to ask ourselves: Do I do unto others
as I would have them to do unto me? In the past, have I done unto others as I
would have them do to me? If not, can I ask for forgiveness or in some way make
amends?
Have others done to me things that I would have
not done to myself? If so, can I forgive them, or in some way try to resolve
the situation?
Another way of practicing the Golden Rule is to
ask ourselves, whenever we are not sure what to do: What would Jesus do? or
Jesus, what would you do?
And then listen to hear his answer.
Judaism: “What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow man. That is the entire
Law, all the rest is commentary.”
Or: What is hateful to you, do not to your
neighbor. This is the whole Torah: all the rest is commentary. (Hillel, Talmud, Shabbat 31a)
Questions to ask ourselves: Have I done to my
fellow man or neighbor something that would be hateful or unkind to me? If so,
can I ask for forgiveness or in some way try to make amends?
Has someone done to me something that is
hateful or unkind? Can I forgive them or in someway try to resolve this
situation?
Buddhism: Treat not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful.
Or: Hurt not
others in ways that you find hurtful. (The Buddha, Udana-Varga 5.18)
Hinduism: This is the sum of duty: do not do
unto others what would cause pain if done to you. (Mahabharata
5:1517)
Islam: Not one of you truly believes until you wish for others what you wish
for yourself. (The
Prophet Muhammad, Hadith)
Or: No one is a believer until he desires for
his brother that which de desires for himself. (Koran, Sunnah)
Confucianism: One word which sums up the basis of all good conduct... loving
kindness. Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself. (Confucius, Analects 15.23)
Or: Surely it is the maxim of loving kindness,
do not do unto others that which you would not have them do unto you. (Analects, Lun-yu XV, 23)
Taoism: Regard your neighbor’s gain as your own gain, and your neighbor’s loss
as your own loss. (Lao
Tzu, T’ai Shang Kang-Ying P’ien, 213-218)

Zoroastrianism: Do not do unto others whatever is injurious
to yourself. (Shayast-na-Shayast

doing unto another whatsoever is not good for itself. (Avesta, Dadistan-i-dinik
94:5)
Sikhism: We obtain salvation by loving our fellow man and God. (Granth, Jopji XXI)
Or: As thou deemest thyself, so deem others.
Then shalt thou become a partner in heaven. (Source unknown)

The Golden Rule for Mother Earth
Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the
trees ...
(Revelation 7:3)
Or: Love Mother Earth, and she will return to
you her abundance.
The Golden Rule as Taught by Various Individuals

must be a message of infinite love and we must demonstrate that love to the

Teachings from the Golden Rule
Society, Austin, Texas
The Golden Rule is not religion.
The Golden Rule is the ultimate expression of True Religion.
The Golden Rule is the Law of
Cause and Effect in action. Eastern Philosophy calls this Spiritual Law, Karma.
Note by William Star: The goal of life is that all of
society follow the Golden Rule and become a Golden Age Society.
A Child’s Golden Rule Prayer
To do to others as I would
That they should do to me,
Will make me gentle, kind, and good,
As children ought to be.
A New Golden Rule for the Golden
Age of Aquarius
For thousands of
years people have found inspiration and a guide for their lives from the Golden
Rule.
For the Golden Age
of Aquarius, there is progressive revelation, and we may have a new Golden
Rule:
As above, I AM that Presence of Love,
so below, I AM that love everywhere I go,
And as I AM that love everywhere I go,
I will reap the love that I sow.
And to compliment this Golden Rule of Love, we
can affirm:
I AM God-love, I AM pure love, I AM all love, I
AM in love, I do love you.
And whenever we meet someone, we can say,
at least in our hearts, and especially to
children:
I love
you, and God loves you.
The Golden Rule for Every School
This Golden Rule is a rule for every
school, and should be placed as many places as reasonable in every school, and
should be taught in every reasonable way. And not only is the Golden Rule for
every school, but for every business, every organization, every form of
government, etc.
This Golden Rule is a law of interaction
for all people – it is to help people to “interact” better.
A Teaching Through
Elizabeth Clare Prophet
of The Summit
Lighthouse
“Those
who are qualified to lead the youth by reason of superior education and
experience must continue to strive to make the world a better place in which to
live by applying golden-age teachings by the golden-rule standard.”
A Teaching through David Lewis
of The Hearts Center
“Love is the requirement of
the hour -- love in many manifestations, dear hearts. For there must be the
expression of love through the particular flame that you are and that you bear,
if earth is to see a Golden Age. When the golden rule is embodied and practiced
fully by a majority of earth's evolutions, you will see the dawn of eternal
joy. And God's joy will be reflected through the aperture of self of you as you
become God through oneness, through acceptance and through that love that
springs eternal as the flame within.”
The End
but there is no end
to the practice
of
The Golden Rule of Love
As above,
I AM that Presence of
Love,
So, below,
I AM that love
everywhere I go.
