�������Mantras or mantrams are sounds, syllables, words, phrases, and the names of God that we can repeat to uplift our consciousness - to find union with God. We can repeat them silently, out loud, or chant them. Mantra yoga or japa yoga is the repetition of mantras to achieve union with God. The word yoga comes from the root word to "yoke", that is, implying, to join together, or to find union with. So the purpose of all yoga is to find union with God, and the repeating these mantras, prayers, and affirmations can help us do that.

�������It is generally good to repeat each mantra at least three times, or moreover to repeat it as often as possible. Mantras may be repeated with the help of a mala or prayer beads to keep count of how many repetitions are done.
